The Giver Reading Questions:
1. Why do you think that being released from the community is such a bad thing?
2. What was the name of the sister of Jonas’ father? What happened when she became a Nine?3. How is Jonas different from most of the community?
4. Who was released the morning that Jonas is in the House of Old?

Lord of the Flies Reading Questions:

1.What did the cabin of the plane do to the land of the island?
2.What do Ralph and Piggy find in the Lagoon? What do they plan to use it for?
3. What is Piggy’s job on the island?
4. Why does Jack feel that he should be chief?

Fahrenheit 451 Reading Questions:

1.What are the symbols for a fireman?
2. Why does Clarisse have “lots of time for crazy thoughts?”
3. What is the reason Mildred give Montag for taking all of the pills in her bottle?
4. What is the game that the Firemen play with the hound?

1984 Reading Questions:

1. What are the four largest buildings in London and what are the names of the buildings?
2. Why does Winston not like most women?
3. What does Winston start to write that makes him afraid that the Thought Police will arrest him?
4. When was the last time there was no war in London according to Winston?

2. Whose “schemes go awry” in today’s reading? Identify two characters whose schemes are ruined and explain why.

3. Pick a song that you think sums up today’s reading. Explain why you chose that song. (1 paragraph)

Today in class each student came up with 2 open-ended questions based on the story "Of Mice and Men". Then we traded the questions. The homework was for each student to answer another students questions.
